Plant lovers of all kinds will rejoice in the return of our Spring Plant Sale. Guests will be able to roam our Upper Meadow for unique plants propagated by South Coast Botanic Garden or curated by our team. There will be unique succulents, roses, specimen plants, bromeliads, water wise plants, native plants, house plants, tillandsia and more. Prices will vary and there will be something for every budget!

“When looking for a plant, think about your space, your shade and your sun,” says MaryLynn Mack, the Garden’s Chief Operations Officer. “Are you putting it in the ground? Is this something you want in the house? Do you want color? Something hearty that doesn’t need a lot of attention? You can also reach out to our team who will be on site to help you find the best plant for your needs. Also, look at some of the inspiration ‘vignettes’ we put in the sale area.”

The plant sale is free with Garden Admission, however, if you want first dibs on what we have to offer, you may want to consider upgrading to a Sustainer or above membership for an exclusive invitation to our Spring Botanical Boutique on Friday night where those Members get priority access. This invitation-only event includes light bites, libations and mingling, as well as a seated presentation by the plant-sale architects – the Garden’s landscape design consultant Brian Kissinger of the Green Room Collaborative Int., and Terry Huang, Director of Living Collections, Learning and Engagement. If you’re already a Sustainer or above Member, be sure to RSVP (you should have received an invitation by mail and email). If you’re interested in upgrading your Membership to attend this event, please contact us at 424-452-0920.

Our team will also be on site selling food and drinks on the Upper Meadow both days of the Spring Plant Sale. We will provide more information on those specifics as they become available. We’re also accepting vendor applications for those interested. If you’d like to apply, you can get the application here.

This is a major milestone for the Garden as it’s the first plant sale after a more than two-year hiatus during the pandemic.

“Plant sales at public gardens are a cornerstone of best practices and we are very excited to host one for the community this spring,” says MaryLynn Mack. “Not only can we provide you a beautiful array of offerings, our team can provide expert advice and inspiration to help you bring ‘nature on its best day’ to your own home and yard. All of the proceeds continue to feed our mission to provide a garden of experiences for ALL.”

And while you’re in the Garden, make sure to take a stroll to see our latest exhibit, Flamboyance – A Topiary Menagerie, featuring 100 animal topiaries!

The Garden relies on generous donations from our Members, visitors and community to keep access to our 87 acres open for all and to provide unique horticultural experiences that help people find connections with nature. Please help us continue this mission for years to come by considering a gift to the Garden. You can do so here.
