The Garden is excited to host our very first Lunar New Year Celebration, happening 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. January 28 and 29. There’s a jam-packed schedule of activities that will repeat both days. From martial art demonstrations to lion dances, roaring drums to delicate calligraphy, we’ve got something for everyone. We are fully expecting this event to sell out on both days, so we wanted to be sure our guests have everything they need to know prior to attending to ensure they have the best experience possible. Below is our guide to ringing in the Year of the Rabbit with us.

Dates and times
January 28 and 29 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.  Please note, both days have the same programming.

Parking
Parking is free but limited! There will be overflow parking available all day Saturday and starting at noon on Sunday however, we highly recommend that everyone carpools. The Garden has secured overflow parking at Rolling Hills United Methodist Church, located next to the Garden at 26438 Crenshaw Blvd., Rolling Hills Estates. Once inside the parking lot, you may park in any available parking space. There is a pedestrian gate along the fence next to the Garden that allows for a quick and easy walk to our entrance. There should be signage and/or a ranger on site to help should you have any questions.

Food and drink
Dottie’s will be selling its normal offerings from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Dim sum boxes and boba will also be available for purchase in the Upper Meadow beginning at 11 a.m. This is an alcohol-free event.

Seating
The event will be taking place throughout the Garden. Performances and demonstrations will take place in the Upper Meadow, where it is recommended you bring your own seating. There is limited seating at Dottie’s for food and beverage services. We encourage everyone to bring their own lawn chairs or picnic blankets and set up in any of our open meadows.

Entertainment
Performances and demonstrations will be in the Upper Meadow from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. and again from 2 – 3 p.m. We suggest staying for just one set since both sets have the same performances.

Games and crafts will be offered from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and will take place throughout the Garden.
