Last week, the team at South Coast Botanic Garden hosted a party in honor of our beloved volunteers. During the pandemic we were forced to reimagine our volunteer program, only being able to bring these valued team members back in time to help us GLOW. Now, we have more than 200 active volunteers who make everything at the Garden possible, from SOAR and dog walking hours to our Green Team who get their hands dirty in the Garden week after week.

The evening included picnicking in the Garden with sweet treats from Nothing Bundt Cakes and alcohol provided by Brouwerij West, a visit to SOAR, opening remarks by the Garden’s CEO Adrienne Nakashima, live music from Daniel Lopilato. We also took a moment to give a special thanks to five volunteers who had exemplary service with more than 100 volunteer hours this past year. Those recognized were Riley Leongkaye, Simone Ivanov, Joyce Cardwell, Martha Mallan and Gale Swartz.

If you’d like to join the party next year, sign up to be a volunteer!
