Mother’s Day is on May 12, which means it’s time to start planning something special for the wonderful women in your life. If you’re wondering how you can make a trip to the Garden extra special, you’re in luck! We’re going the extra mile to help create a memorable Mother’s Day. From blooming roses and live butterflies to Bespoke Picnics and the return of our food and beverage program, there’s something for every price range and time frame. Plus, we’ve already set up a shuttle to help ease the pain of parking in our lot! Continue reading to learn more about our Mother’s Day offerings and then make sure to get your tickets in advance for our busiest day of the year! 

  • Be immersed in the world of tropical butterflies with SOAR – Tropical Butterflies: Our popular exhibit is returning May 1,  just in time for Mother’s Day! Featuring an enclosed pavilion, this exhibit allows guests to be surrounded by live tropical butterflies. Looking for native butterflies? Make sure to hangout in the Host and Nectar Garden right outside the pavilion and watch as native butterflies and caterpillars feast on nectar and leaves.   • Awaken your senses with Bloom!: Join us for a self-guided sensory experience through the Garden with our springtime exhibit. Bloom! features five floral displays with prompts that will help you tap into your senses and become fully present in the moment. One of these displays is our new meadow in the Amphitheater Lawn that is filled with over 21,000 flowering bulbs. The exhibit also features three photo opportunities and a map with even more blooming locations. Bloom! is included with the price of Garden Admission. To purchase tickets, click here.

 

  • Make a unique gift with up-cycled paper beads: Stop by our paper bead pop-up and make a personalized gift for, or with, mom! Turn those beads into a bracelet, necklace or even a paper ring. This activity is recommended for ages 10 +. Each bracelet or craft is $7 and no advance registration is required.

 

Bespoke Picnic

  • Surprise her with a Bespoke Picnic: Made for 4 people (you can add additional people for an added fee), these curated picnics include a photo opportunity and a picnic box filled with a variety of bite-sized snacks, cured meats and cheeses, and dessert! These 2-hour Bespoke Picnics are limited and available Sunday, May 12, at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. There are only a few Bespoke Picnics available for purchase and pricing starts at $550 (includes taxes and fees).   • Pick up a picnic box and have lunch in your favorite part of the Garden: Made for 4 people, these picnic boxes are filled with finger sandwiches, cured meats and cheeses, and dessert. Picnic boxes are limited and available on May 12 for pickup only, advance orders are required. They are priced at $140/box (plus tax). Click here to order your picnic box.

 

  • Enjoy a bite to eat at Dottie’s on the Weekends, located in the Koi Pond: For those who want to sit back with a cocktail or work up a hunger while exploring the Garden, we will also have a special Mother’s Day menu that can be purchased in the Koi Pond. The menu is as followed:
    • Kids Meal: Grape Uncrustable, Honest Juice box, apple sauce – $8.50
    • Bistro Box: An assortment of sandwiches, 2 bags of chips, charcuterie – cured meats and cheese with crackers, and a sweet treat – $34 
    • Braised Brats: Served with sauerkraut, chips and a cookie – $14
    • Veggie Dog: Served with sauerkraut, chips and a cookie – $14 
    • Belgian Waffle: Grilled and topped with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. – $7.50, add Nutella or strawberries for $1 
    • Churro: Rolled in cinnamon sugar – $4.50, add whipped cream and chocolate sauce for $1
    • Drinks
      • Butterfly Palmer – $4.50 
      • Americano (2) shots espresso + hot water – $4.50 
      • Sodas, sparkling water – $3
      • Reusable still water bottle – $5 
      • Fruit Punch – $4.50
      • Plus beer, wine and cocktails 

 

  • Enjoy hassle-free parking: Skip searching for a parking space in our jam-packed parking lot and head straight to the Promenade on the Peninsula (located at 550 Deep Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274). You can park anywhere in this large parking structure. A shuttle will pick up and drop off from the bottom level every 30 mins from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. If you have strollers or a picnic with you, make mom feel like a VIP by dropping her off, along with your items, at our designated drop off area near our ADA parking. Guests can wait here for the rest of their party or head inside and wait in our beautiful Bloom! courtyard. 

 

Please note, while we will do our best to accommodate walk-ins on the day of, we highly recommend getting advance reservations. SOAR – Tropical Butterflies will sell out prior to Sunday, May 12, so if this is on your to-do list, make sure to get your tickets today!
