In conjunction with the Garden’s latest exhibit, Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea, we launched our all-new Washed Ashore Adventure Tour! Take a ride around Tram Road and let Sage or Blossom give you the scoop on all things Garden and Washed Ashore. Complete with characters, punny jokes, and a photo op, this 45-minute tour is unlike anything we’ve ever offered at the Garden. Below are our top 6 reasons for taking the Washed Ashore Adventure Tour.

  1. Meet our characters, Sage and Blossom: Sage, defender of the Garden, has called this land home since before it was even a Garden. He tells us tales of long ago, of all the phases this land has gone through before becoming the beautiful Garden we know and love today. Blossom, on the other hand, is spirited and a bit mischievous. She’s best friends with the flowers and pollinators and an even better gossip! She always has the latest dirt on what’s happening in the Garden. Sage and Blossom take turns leading the Washed Ashore Adventure Tour, so make sure to take the Adventure Tour more than once to get a chance to meet them both!
  2. Laugh and learn: Humor aids memory and that couldn’t be more true for the Washed Ashore Adventure Tour. Sage and Blossom deliver fun facts in the form of jokes, and puns that are sure to entertain the young and the young at heart. You’ll walk away with some new knowledge about plants and sustainability as well as some new jokes to share with family and friends! Plus, Sage and Blossom have props they pass around so you can see and touch some of what’s being discussed.
  3. Be inspired: The Washed Ashore sculptures are put on display in hopes of inspiring viewers to take steps to live more sustainably. This is a great opportunity to learn how single-use plastics interfere with the beautiful wildlife that makes up our oceans and waterways and become inspired to make a change. The Garden was inspired to make some changes, including having a fully electric vehicle fleet!  That’s right, the shuttle you’re on during the tour is electric, and the money you spend on your Washed Ashore Adventure Tour ticket goes right back into the Garden to help further our sustainability efforts and other Garden updates.
  4. Get a ride around the whole Garden: The Washed Ashore sculptures are spread out over our 87 acres; the closest being in our Courtyard and the farthest being in Phoebe’s Meadow. The Washed Ashore Adventure Tour highlights the 8 sculptures that are visible from Tram Road. This tour is great to do in addition to a walking tour of the exhibit and is a great way to beat the heat during those hot summer months. The shuttle is fully covered, protecting you from the sun, with windows that open for some nice fresh air.
  5. Get an exclusive photo-op: At the end of the Washed Ashore Adventure Tour, guests aboard the shuttle will have the opportunity to take a picture with Sage or Blossom in front of one of the sculptures to commemorate the adventure!
  6. Show your support: Of course, the best reason to take the Washed Ashore Adventure Tour is to show your support for the Garden’s new venture!
