We Could Use Your Help!
Thank you for considering sharing your time and skills with South Coast Botanic Garden.
Volunteers are vital to operations at South Coast Botanic Garden. Many of our most important activities at the garden would not be possible without their help and dedication. Our Volunteers benefit from the opportunity to learn new skills, give back to their community and make new friends.
Volunteers work throughout the garden maintaining garden beds and nurseries, propagating plants, leading tours, creating unique crafts and assisting at special events. Whatever your background, the South Coast Botanic Garden can benefit from your time, skills and talents.

Volunteer opportunities are open to Adults and Students (minimum age of 14 years old). Volunteers are required to complete an application, have a fingerprint background check and meet with a garden staff member for orientation.
Several areas of the garden can use volunteers on a regular basis:
Craft Workshop Volunteers – make handcrafted items to sell at seasonal flower, plant and craft sales. (All proceeds from sales benefit the garden).
Docents – are trained to serve as guides and educators for the garden. They conduct tours for school groups, community organizations, garden clubs and other visitors about the Garden and its mission. School tours are most frequent weekdays in the spring from March-May.
Volunteer Gardeners – work in various areas, planting, watering, weeding, pruning and maintaining garden plants and landscapes.
Propagation Nursery and Back 40 Nursery Volunteers – work in a nursery setting caring for plants, propagating plants, preparing for and assisting with sales at two annual plant sales.
Volunteer opportunities occur at various times throughout the week. For more information on specific work schedules, work areas or schedule an appointment to submit an application (link here), please contact us at (310) 544-6818 or email@example.com.
