We are getting ready to soar, but we can’t do it without some help. We are currently looking for volunteers to provide some additional support during SOAR – Tropical Butterflies at South Coast Botanic Garden. Volunteers will be helping us fill two key roles during the immersive butterfly exhibit. The first is SOAR Guides. Volunteers in these positions will work in the butterfly pavilion helping to care for the butterflies and guide the guest experience. The second opportunity is with our new Discovery Station program. Discovery Guides will use safe interactive stations within the SOAR exhibit that provides safe activities and experiences where guests can learn about pollinators and the Garden. These volunteer opportunities are safe and all of the Garden’s COVID-19 safety protocols will be enforced throughout the exhibit.

By signing up to be a Garden volunteer, you’ll also be invited to the Garden’s Volunteer Summits, which are held twice a year and will feature updates from South Coast Botanic Garden executive team members, Volunteer program information, some kind of educational feature and a social component. Our first summit took place in February and featured Brian Vogt, CEO of Denver Botanic Garden and President of the American Public Gardens Association.

If you’re interested in applying to volunteer but now isn’t the right now, don’t worry. We take Volunteer sign ups year-round and there are plenty of additional volunteer opportunities on the horizon including seasonal opportunities, dog walking hours and the Garden Green Team, where you can get your hands dirty in the Garden!
