South Coast Botanic Garden’s All-Inclusive ‘Micro-Wedding’ is a Beautiful, Safe Solution for Couples Looking to Wed Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

While the COVID-19 pandemic has been difficult for everyone in their own way, it’s had a significant impact on engaged couples who’ve had to make the tough decision to either delay their weddings or forgo inviting loved ones.

South Coast Botanic Garden’s Special Events Team created an innovative solution, putting together an all-inclusive micro-wedding package that allows brides and grooms to still have their special day in a beautiful – yet safe – setting.

These micro-weddings can have up to 8 guests, plus the couple, and include a ceremony located anywhere on the Garden’s beautiful 87-acres, a first dance, parent dances, speeches and a cake cutting. Masks must be worn at all times by all in attendance, however, the couple can take them off during the ceremony, along with traditional moments where the guests are socially distanced.

“Planning a wedding can take a couple up to a year, so the pandemic has been very devastating to couples who’ve had to add another year to their waiting,” says Christina Cruz, the South Coast Botanic Garden’s Director of Special Events and Filming.

“Having a micro-wedding can preserve their original date that they most likely took so much time and thought into choosing. They can share their special day with their family on the date they originally set with all the wedding traditions they were looking forward to. And then, if they choose, they can celebrate some time next year (hopefully) with their full guest count.”

The Garden’s micro-wedding is just $4,080 and includes the venue, officiant, wedding coordinator, DJ, photographer, videographer, flowers and a cake.  On top of that, it can be turned around in just ONE WEEK’s notice, so it’s also a great solution for those newly engaged brides who don’t want to deal with planning a wedding.

“Love shouldn’t have to wait,” says Cruz. “If this pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that we have no idea what tomorrow holds. We wanted to create a package that was affordable and gives couples a true solution to start their lives together. It doesn’t hurt that the Garden happens to be the most incredible setting for a wedding.”
