With work, errands, family, friends and planning for the future constantly competing for our attention, it’s easy to allow life to race by without a second thought. At times it can feel like life is happening to you instead of you making life happen and enjoying it. And sometimes you just can’t seem to catch up. In these moments we may not feel or be our best selves, but worry not – the solution could be as simple as meditation.

Meditation can help individuals achieve a mentally clear and emotionally stable state by either focusing the mind on an object, thought, or present moment. By entering this state you are able to gain perspective on your life and observe your thoughts and feelings free from judgment. After plenty of observation, you may gain better insight into feelings that are linked to limiting beliefs and work on letting them go. And when you combine meditation with hypnosis, like Gina Hemmings does with her Mindrop classes, the benefits can be even more rewarding.

“You can expect to feel a deep sense of connection and relaxation in mind, body, and psyche as the thinking mind detaches from any stress or worries prior and the body lets go of held tension,” says Gina Hemmings of her Mindrop classes, which you can enjoy every other Wednesday at the Garden. “This can then help to unplug from the outside, everyday world and bring you into the present moment.”

Gina is also hosting the Garden’s very first mega-meditation on August 19 from 10 to 11 a.m. Using state-of-the-art wireless headsets, Gina will guide you through your own imagination to a state of deep relaxation where limiting beliefs are easily released and replaced with positive suggestions.
