Plan Your Visit to GLOW

WHAT IS GLOW?

GLOW is a visually stunning art installation that will transform the South Coast Botanic Garden’s lush botanic oasis into an oceanic experience for our Garden Lights & Ocean Waters theme using thousands of lights and set to a curated soundtrack featuring various musical genres. GLOW has been reimagined for its sophomore year but will still maintain its ocean theme. For a how-to-guide to enjoying GLOW, click here.

PLAN YOUR VISIT

  • Where do guests park? There is plenty of FREE parking at the Garden. Tailgating is also not allowed.

  • What should guests bring? Bring comfortable shoes for a lot of walking, appropriate clothing for the weather and an umbrella if it’s raining (GLOW takes place rain or shine). Feel free to bring a flashlight.

  • Are tripods allowed? We want you to enjoy GLOW long after you’ve left and encourage you to take pictures, but because of the constraints during a nighttime walk and for the safety of other participants, we ask that you use your handheld camera or phone and leave any monopods or tripods at home.

  • What can guests do during this time? Guests can enjoy an after-dark walk through the Garden amidst hundreds of thousands of lights while listening to a curated soundtrack created for GLOW. There will also be food and beverage available, as well as ample room to stop and enjoy the environment with your fellow guests.

  • Will there be food and drinks available for purchase? Yes! On most nights, snack-type food and beverages will be available at various locations. Concessions can typically be found at the new Staghorn Fern Collection, the Rose Garden and on the lawn right before you head into the Banyan Falls. Please note, our food and beverage areas will be cashless and the menu and locations are subject to change.

  • Is GLOW appropriate for kids and families? Yes, this exhibition is for everyone!

  • Is there a seating area? Yes! Seating is available in a variety of benches throughout the Garden as well as community seating available in the new Staghorn Fern Collection area.

  • Is there anything to be aware of before purchasing a ticket? Those with sensory sensitivities and disorders should be aware of flashing lights and music throughout the walk.
    ● Wheelchair accessibility is limited to our paved paths, though please note that our paved paths do include uneven pavement and hills. Wheelchairs are not rentable nor are they recommended to fully experience GLOW.
    ● GLOW trail routes may be limited during heavy rain.
