South Coast Botanic Garden is grateful for your support of our membership card program. You are helping us limit plastic waste and stay greener. The digital membership cards update when you renew and can be used for the reciprocal program and discounts. Below are answers to common questions regarding digital cards. Frequently Asked Questions

How will I use my digital membership card?  Your digital membership card is unique to your membership and displays your name, ID number, membership level, and expiration date. You can scan your bar code for entry into the Garden on weekdays. There is also a link on the card to the reservation page for ticketed events.

How do I receive my digital membership card? Digital membership cards will be sent to the email address given for each active member on a membership. You will need to open this email on your mobile device and follow the instructions to download the card. The card will automatically be stored in your phone’s wallet app. Android users may need to install Wallet Passes from the Play Store prior to downloading your card. If we do not have the email address for a person on the membership, that person will not receive the card to download.

What if I don’t have a wallet app installed on my phone? The email you receive will provide step-by-step instructions and a link to download the recommended wallet application to store your digital membership card and similar types of digital cards and passes. If you prefer to receive a plastic membership card instead, please email or call 424-452-0931.

Will my digital card update when I renew my membership? Yes! The digital card will automatically update when your membership information changes. For example, your expiration date and membership level will automatically update the next time you renew or upgrade your membership. This means that you only have to download the card once!

How will I receive my guest passes and other vouchers? Currently, Deluxe level members and higher will receive hard copy cards along with their guest passes and vouchers in the mail.

How will my reciprocal benefits work when visiting other gardens? Simply show your digital membership card at participating gardens to receive free or reduced admission!

Will both cardholders receive a digital membership card? Yes, for the Basic Plus level and above, each member will receive a unique digital membership card via email if their email is provided. 

I am a Deluxe level or higher, how will I use my Guest Access Card? For Deluxe level members and above, you will receive 3 plastic membership cards in the mail. This will include your Guest Access card.

I am not sure I received my digital card. Can you send it again? Yes! Please email or, and we can resend the email for you to download and enjoy your digital membership card. You may also want to check the Junk, Spam, and Unwanted folders of your email.

What if I prefer a plastic membership card? By default, all Basic and Basic Plus members will only receive a digital membership card sent to the email address you provide. If you prefer to receive a plastic membership card, please email or call 424-452-0931.

Can I update the email address(es) associated with my membership? Yes! Please email or call 424-452-0931 to update your information. Please also review and update your contact information as you renew your membership.

How do I add the membership card to my iPhone? Access the email from your smartphone and click the “Download” button, then click “Add to Wallet” and “Add.” The card will automatically go to your iPhone’s Apple Wallet. It can be accessed in Wallet at any time.

How do I add the membership card to my Android phone? Android users need to download Wallet Passes from Google Play. After you have the app, access the email from your smartphone and click “Download” in the membership email, and the card will automatically go to your Wallet Passes app, where it can be accessed at any time.

I’d prefer not to use this digital membership card, what should I do? Or I don’t have a mobile phone, what can I do? Please contact or by calling 424-452-0931. We are happy to send you a plastic card upon request.

I have more than 1 person on my membership account. Will we both receive a digital card?

Yes! Digital membership cards will be sent to the email addresses on file. Members can also forward the email or use the share feature of the wallet app to ensure that the second cardholder receives their digital membership card.

Navigate to the back of the card (click the small “i” on the front) and use the “Share Pass” button to send the card to your secondary member. For iPhone users, you will find the share icon at the top right of the Digital Card.

I downloaded my card, but I can’t find it. What do I do? If you have an iPhone, the card will automatically download to Apple Wallet. Check the app for your new card (scroll through any cards that are already there–it may be hiding!). If you have an Android, you’ll need to download Wallet Passes from the Play Store prior to downloading the card.
