We are about a month away from hosting our first mega-meditation class at the Garden, led by Gina Hemmings.  For those of you who are not familiar with Gina, she leads a bi-weekly Mindrop class at the Garden. Mindrop is an hour-long hypnotic meditation class created by Gina. As you listen to music through state-of-the-art wireless headphones, Gina’s calming voice guides you through your own imagination. Her scripts include beautiful visuals that lead you to self-discovery and help you connect back to nature and back to yourself. While we know meditation can be scary for some, Gina’s approach is welcoming to all, whether it’s your first attempt at meditation or you’re an expert.

Gina has been in the wellness industry for more than 18 years. Before moving to Los Angeles in 2014 and starting Mindrop, she owned health and wellness salons in Kew Gardens, London, and The New Forest in Hampshire. She also ran the health and wellness services for the Firmdale Hotel Group in London.

We spoke with Gina about her unique meditation style and what participants can expect from one of her classes, including the upcoming Collective Consciousness: Mega-Meditation in the Garden happening on August 19.

Q: What led you to create Mindrop?

A: Mindrop was created from my mantra “Mind drop.” Many are familiar that we use a mantra, a positive phrase, or an affirmative statement that we say to ourselves for motivation, encouragement, or helping one to settle the mind into meditation. So “Mindrop” was initially born from my need to help myself, and then others, drop their thinking minds and connect deeper inside themselves to aid self-awareness and discovery, healing, peace, and connection. Rather than being lost in a constant stream of unhealthy looping thoughts that can cause mental anguish.

As a meditation teacher and hypnotherapist, I felt merging both meditation with the power of hypnotic suggestion would work deeper with the subconscious mind to help for long-term change and growth, and bring more balance to our mindset.

Q: How is Mindrop Meditation different from other forms of meditation?

A: Mindrop combines hypnosis with meditation. Whereas meditation alone is trying to detach from thought, hypnosis is being more open to receiving hypnotic suggestions to help break down old thought forms, negative habits or behavior, and worn-out cycles to embrace change through visualizing new and better outcomes for your life, while at the same time feeling detached and deeply relaxed in a meditative state of mind and body.

Q: What can people expect during and after Collective Consciousness: Mega-Meditation in the Garden?

A: You can expect to feel a deep sense of connection and relaxation in mind, body, and psyche, as the thinking mind detaches from any stress or worries prior and the body lets go of held tension, this can then help to unplug from the outside, everyday world and bring you into the present moment.

You will work on allowing the subconscious mind to be open to letting go of any worn-out cycles that no longer benefit you, maybe old repeated patterns of thought, stress, or negative self-talk, as you start to be open and suggestible to plant new seeds of hope and that of what you would like to see and bring into your life. The Mindrop journey is immersive, healing, and very personal to each person. You can expect the positive suggestions and imagery to stay with you well after the session has ended, allowing ongoing change healing, and growth, helping to bring balance to where it is needed.

Q: Why is the Garden a good place to take a Mindrop class?

A: The Garden has been a personal place of calm, healing and connection for me for coming up on 5 years. It’s been my special place of zen, so it was always somewhere I really wanted to bring my Mindrop class to. It really is the perfect place to connect with nature, which helps us to also reconnect back to our own true nature at the same time. You cannot help but notice your heartbeat slow down, which in turn calms the nervous system, as thoughts start to ease and stress and tension start to leave the mind and body as you take the first few steps inside.

So for this reason, the Garden is a perfect place to attend a Mindrop class to help you find peace and calmness as you escape the chaos and noise of everyday life.
The nourishing and restoring sense you feel when being in the Garden only helps make it a wonderful place to attend a Mindrop class.
