As we are all aware by now, the Garden is in a constant state of change. We strive to improve our 87 acres to make it the best possible experience for our Members and guests. So far this year, we gave our Upper Meadow a face lift and opened the Dorothy and Allen Lay Staghorn Fern Collection. And now we are getting ready for more projects that we are excited to tell you about.

Starting October 20, guests will begin seeing changes to our current children’s garden as some of the props that have called the area home are lovingly removed and put in storage. While some of these props have become a safety hazard, others are being removed as we prepare to transform the area with a brand-new pollination garden.  While construction on this new area won’t begin until next year, we want to ensure the props are properly stored away and cared for before work begins.

You’ll also notice new fencing going up near the Banyan Lawn and Banyan Grove. This fencing is in preparation for us to break ground on an exciting new project – a 3.5-acre children and family garden! During COVID, our membership base grew significantly, many of which included families looking for safe outings. This project represents our commitment to bringing the absolute best to those families, our Members and all guests. This new space will be one of both education and entertainment. We can’t wait to share more details as the project kicks off, but for now, here’s a sneak peek at a conceptual photo of what’s to come.

The Garden relies on generous donations from our Members, visitors and community to keep access to our 87 acres open for all and to provide unique horticultural experiences that help people find connections with nature. Please help us continue this mission for years to come by considering a gift to the Garden. You can do so here.
