Baja Fairy Duster

Calliandra californica is a loose shrub growing to 3 feet,  producing bright red powder-puff flowers that are attractive to hummingbirds.  It is drought hardy and does very well when planted in full sun with good soil drainage.  Some summer watering will extend the flowering season.  Photos by Laurel Woodley
