Ponytail

This is a multi-stemmed tree eventually attaining 20-30 feet with an enlarged base getting to 6 feet in diameter.  The long, linear leaves have fine teeth along the leaf margins which may cut skin if not handled with care.  This plant requires considerable space in the garden but is quite drought hardy as water is stored in the enlarged trunk base (caudex).  It makes a wonderful accent plant.
