Anagram Cactus

The genus Denmoza is an anagram of Mendoza, Argentina where the first specimens were collected.  This cactus begins life as a medium sized barrel and then, as it gets more mature, stretches into a columnar form eventually reaching  to as much as nine feet.  This drought hardy plant does best in full sun with good soil drainage.  Photos by Laurel Woodley
