Peter Olpe will talk about the fuchsia flower history and culture in this interesting lecture. A slideshow accompaniment will provide some beautiful photos. Come learn about fuchsias, and then explore the only remaining public fuchsia garden in Los Angeles County.

NEW! Summer Floral Design Secrets and Demonstration - Summer 2013

Instructors: Kit Wertz and Casey Schwartz of Flower Duet

The sister floral design team of Flower Duet has created magnificent wedding and event flowers throughout Los Angeles and beyond for over 14 years and loves passing on secrets to the DIY floral designer and garden bouquet arranger. In this lecture and demonstration, Flower Duet will talk about how to choose fresh flowers from the summer floral market or garden, how to condition them, make them last a long time in a vase, and how to combine different flowers of the season. Flower Duet will also demonstrate how to arrange summer flowers in a large garden urn design without using wet florist's foam and pass on some florists' secrets to successful floral design.

Flower Show School is open to all who want to study horticulture and design. To receive credit, however, one must be a member of a federated garden club. If you want to join a federated garden club, you can do so at the school. Students wishing to become Flower Show Judges must attend all sessions.
