Bring Mom to the Garden to hear the band as they perform this very popular Mother’s Day Concert. This 60-person symphonic band is under the direction of David Stanton and consists of local musicians who wish to bring you the best of concert band music. Their repertoire includes Big Band, jazz, show tunes, marches, and folk favorites from America and around the world.

Students will be exposed to a variety of age-appropriate art activities that build Life Essential Skills: Critical Thinking, Independent Learning, Fine-Motor Development, and Curiosity. From our Paint Walls to our Play Dough Station to our weekly lessons, your child’s self-esteem and imagination will soar! Lessons and projects rotate quarterly. Parent attendance is required. Class is limited to 16 participants.

Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, and More! Students will be exposed to a variety of Master Artist lessons along with different weekly projects that build Life Essential Skills: Critical Thinking, Increased Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem, Development of Fine Motor Skills, and Independent Learning. From tempera paint, to tile mosaic, to watercolor and our Paint Walls – Let that imagination soar! Lessons and projects rotate quarterly. Parent attendance is required. Class is limited to 16 participants.

From Frank Lloyd Wright to Van Gogh, to Andy Warhol to Monet, students will learn how to work with a variety of materials and take home a work of art each week. Imagination, creativity, and innovation are at the forefront of this great class. Come join the fun – a great way to enhance critical thinking, develop problem-solving skills, and let that imagination soar! Class is limited to 16 participants.

Garden Grounds

$15 for adults and children, members and non-members – Includes one tour

Join Faery Fauni and Faery Godmother Careen up close in an interactive walkabout in the enchanted gardens of South Coast Botanic Garden. The faeries will bring you stories of faery magic and flowers, with dancing, singing and fun.

Starting at 9:30 am and ending at noon. Groups and parties are welcome. Picnicking will be available on the Amphitheater Lawn during the Event hours. Children are invited to come in costume. One face painting is included in the fee. Fairy merchandise will be available for purchase in the Gift Shop. Call (310) 544-1948 for advance tickets. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your tour time.

Girl Scouts can earn the Magical Faery Adventure Patch by attending the event. The program can be downloaded from their website at http://www.afaeryhunt.com/education.htm.

Picnic with paid Garden admission

Bring your family for a picnic at the Garden and visit the Rose Garden. The Rose Garden is a 2-acre garden featuring many All American Rose Selections (AARS). A self-guided tour and information sheet will be available at the Gift Shop. Picnics are not provided, but feel free to bring your own.

Designated areas will be open for picnicking.
