    Docent guided Tram Tour. Tour lasts about 45 minutes and travels the Tram Road which is about a one-mile loop around the garden. Various points of interest are discussed. You will not disembark the tram.  

    Special Hours for Cherry Blossom Festival on March 2, 2013: 11:30 am OR 1:30 pm

    Cost is $4 per person, payable at the admission window, on a first come, first served basis.  Admission window accepts cash only for entrance and tram tour.

  • Smart Gardening Compost Workshop – Beginning Workshop

    Location:

    Included with paid Garden admission

    Hosted by Los Angeles County, Countywide Smart Gardening Program

    Beginning workshops provide hands-on instruction on composting, worm composting, grasscycling, and water-wise and fire-wise gardening. Residents can purchase a backyard or worm composting bins at a discount.

    Flower Show School is open to all who want to study horticulture and design. To receive credit, however, one must be a member of a federated garden club. If you want to join a federated garden club, you can do so at the school. Students wishing to become Flower Show Judges must attend all sessions.   • Garden Walk: Summer Solstice

    ‘Sol’ + ‘stice’ derives from a combination of Latin words meaning ‘sun’ + ‘to stand still’. As the days lengthen, the sun rises higher and higher until it seems to stand still in the sky. Join us for this after-hours walk celebrating the beauty of the Garden in the magical midsummer light. We will also be observing insect pollinators. A refreshment stop will be included halfway through the walk. Dress accordingly for the weather and bring along water and binoculars if you wish.

    Join us after hours exploring little known and seldom seen nooks and crannies in the Garden. With 87 acres to explore there are many ‘secret’ places to find. We will also be observing animal activity in the Garden. A refreshment stop will be included halfway through the walk.     Come enjoy learning about the various Garden critters that inhabit SCBG. Wildlife rehabilitator Marcia Rybak will give a presentation on wildlife rescue and rehabilitating of injured animals. Following the presentation, we will take a short walk looking for various wildlife activity and nesting areas. Dress accordingly for the weather and bring along water and binoculars if you wish.

  • Kids Club – Pot a Succulent for Dad

    $35 for members’ children / $17.50 for each additional sibling

    Dads are tough and tumbly! And they can also be huggy and soft! Come and pot a succulent for dad that is both tough and soft. We will also learn about the summer solstice and look at our shadows and discover a sun dial. In addition, we will be doing a book reading.

  • Family Picnic Day – Father’s Day

    It is no surprise that dads love picnics! Bring your dad and spend the day at the Garden. A self-guided tour and information sheet will be available. Activity presented by Rachel Enders for her Girl Scout Gold Award.Please visit the Gift Shop for more information. Picnics are not provided, but feel free to bring your own. The Upper and Lower Meadows will be open for picnicking.
