Join us for this awesome art class that introduces the Great Masters! From Frank Lloyd Wright to Van Gogh, to Andy Warhol to Monet, students will learn how to work with a variety of materials and take home a work of art each week. Imagination, creativity, and innovation are at the forefront of this great class. Come join the fun – a great way to enhance critical thinking, develop problem solving skills, and let that imagination soar! Class is limited to 16 participants.

Learn to draw with basic techniques using several mediums including pencil, colored pencil, ink, charcoal, and pastel. You will learn extensive lessons in art theory and practice. Please bring a No. 2 pencil to the first class. A materials list will also be provided.

Have fun studying and identifying many of the species of birds found in Southern California. Class uses slides, videos, and printed materials. Discussions revolve around birding books, binoculars, and periodicals.

Speaker: Peter Olpe
Peter Olpe will talk about the fuchsia flower history and culture in this interesting lecture. A slideshow accompaniment will provide some beautiful photos. Come learn about fuchsias, and then explore the only remaining public fuchsia garden in Los Angeles County.
Kids Club is a membership just for kids! We spend an hour the first Sunday of each month from, 1:30pm to 2:30pm, discovering something nature related. We do book readings, art projects, and so much more! Kids Club runs from February through October.

We are pleased to offer this exclusive opportunity through a program at the Torrance Memorial Learning Garden. Participants can learn how to grow an edible garden and actually work in a garden plot. This year-round program features formal classes/lectures, work days, and much more. In addition to these more formal classes, there are ongoing “work” days that include hands-on instruction in topics such as plant selection, soil preparation, fertilizing, natural pest control, irrigation, general garden maintenance, and harvesting/deadheading. Class is limited to six participants for daytime classes only.
