What’s trending? The South Coast Fuchsia Society’s 36th Fuchsia Festival! This year we are featuring fuchsias that are well adapted to our current Southern California climate. You will find varieties that are heat-tolerant, mite-resistant and just plain beautiful in a wide array of colors. Choose luscious doubles or elegant singles in pink, purple, red, orange, pale lavender or white.
You will find versatile encliandra fuchsias that grow well in baskets or in the ground. And if you are thinking of creating a bonsai or a miniature garden, you will want to put an encliandra or two on your shopping list. Gorgeous fresh blossoms will be on exhibit, showcasing many varieties of fuchsia flowers, including very large doubles, singles, species and tiny encliandra-type blossoms.
Over 150 varieties of fuchsia plants will be on view in the Ida Drapkin Fuchsia Garden, located just steps from the show hall. There will be four $25 gift certificates awarded as door prizes, good for purchases at the Festival. Several hundred varieties of fuchsias will be for sale, grown by our members and commercial growers. Select from hanging baskets, standard trees, patio shrubs and trellises, as well as plants in two-inch, four-inch, and gallon-size containers. Containers (baskets), Nutricote fertilizer, potting soil and other supplies will be offered for sale. There will be a potting table where members will pot plants for free when you buy a plant, a container and potting soil. Members will be available to answer questions, help with plant selection and share their gardening expertise. All proceeds from the sale benefit the Ida Drapkin Fuchsia Garden. No registration required.
