  • A Faery Hunt Presents Fairy Time in the Enchanted Garden

    Tours begin at 9:30 am, 10:00 am, 10:30 am, 11:00 am, 11:30 am, and 12:00 pm

    $12 for adults and children, members and non-members – Includes one tour

    Join Faery Fauni and Faery Godmother Careen up close in an interactive walkabout in the enchanted gardens of South Coast Botanic Garden. The faeries will bring you stories of faery magic and flowers, with dancing, singing and fun. Starting at 9:30 a.m. and ending at noon.

    Groups and parties are welcome. Picnicking will be available on the lawn adjacent to the Amphitheater during the Event hours. Children are invited to come in costume. Fairy merchandise and face painting will be available for purchase.

    Call (310) 544-1948 for advance tickets. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your tour time.

  • Family Picnic Day: El Rincon California Native Plants Garden

    Picnic with paid Garden admission

    Bring your family for a picnic at the Garden and explore the El Rincon California Native Plants Garden, which embraces the Garden’s mission to present a model for sustainability by featuring water wise and wildlife friendly California native plants suited to dry sun and dry shade as well as plants adapted to the California wet meadow and shrubs suitable for a living fence. These zones are each represented in this inviting landscape. Join us at 2:00 pm for a tour led by the garden designer. A self-guided tour and information sheet will also be available. Please visit the Gift Shop for more information. Picnics are not provided, but feel free to bring your own. The Upper Meadow will be open for picnicking.

Students will be exposed to a variety of age-appropriate art activities that build Life Essential Skills: Critical Thinking, Independent Learning, Fine-Motor Development, and Curiosity. From our Paint Walls to our Play Dough Station to our weekly lessons, your child’s self-esteem and imagination will soar! Lessons and projects rotate quarterly. Parent attendance is required. Class is limited to 16 participants.

From tempera paint, to tile mosaic, to watercolor and our Paint Walls - Let that imagination soar! Lessons and projects rotate quarterly. Parent attendance is required. Class is limited to 16 participants.

  • Planting My Own Vegetables, Where, When, ... and Why? - Spring 2013

    Gardening Class for Children in Grades K-3 (ages 5-8)

    $18 for members’ children / $20 for non-members’ children

    Additional children in same household: $16 for members’ children / $18 for non-members’ children

    Instructor: Diane Pollock, Landscape and Horticulture Teacher, Certified Master Gardener

    Where, when, and why should children plant their own veggie seeds. Children will have coloring sheets plus hands-on activities. Take-homes include coloring pages, a seasons color wheel, and biodegradable pots planted with their seeds (appropriate for the season). Parents will take home seasonal plant sheets plus plant care sheets for follow up with their child. Class is limited to 25 participants. This is not a drop off program and parental attendance is required.

  • Three Sisters Garden: Corn, Beans, and Squash for the Summer - Spring 2013

    Gardening Class for Children in Grades 4-7 (ages 9-13)

    $18 for members’ children / $20 for non-members’ children

    Additional children in same household: $16 for members’ children / $18 for non-members’ children

    $5 materials fee per child (payable to instructor)

    Instructor: Diane Pollock, Landscape and Horticulture Teacher, Certified Master Gardener 

    Students will learn the basics of planting plus the wisdom of planting with nature, as the Native Americans practiced. They will read stories from the Three Sisters Lore and understand the questions at the end of the reading. They will put together a seasonal planting wheel. Take home projects include the readings and wheel plus the planting projects: three biodegradable pots with their plantings of heirloom corn, beans, and squash. Parents will receive after-care sheets and a master planting chart for each season. Class is limited to 25 participants. This is not a drop off program and parental attendance is required.
