April is such a beautiful time in the Garden with an abundance of plant and wildlife activity.  We could talk about the unusually warm weather, but truth be told, it has been downright hot.  We hope all of you come out this month to enjoy the Garden at its finest.

If you can only fit in one trip, make it to our annual Spring Plant Sale.  Remember to take advantage of your membership benefits and come early to the Members-Only Preview Sale.  The South Coast Cactus & Succulent Society's 43rd Annual Show and Sale will also be happening this month so your containers and garden can be flush with new life and varieties.

March is the month that kicks off spring in the Garden and we invite you, your family, neighbors and friends to join us for a wide array of events and programs to celebrate this prolific season.  So much is happening in the Garden!  The Cherry Blossoms, and the Festival that commemorates their beauty, are both in full swing this month.  Members of the South Coast African Violet Society are busy preparing for a wonderful show and sale and our classrooms are filling up with eco-friendly and health conscious classes. Registration is now open. Join us this spring and nurture your body, mind and soul as you stroll the Garden.

Join us for a romantic day in the intimate setting of the Garden. The Gift Shop will be offering complimentary hot chocolate and Beckers Bakery cookies (while supplies last). End your stroll on the Amphitheater Lawn to meet Cuatro Dias Winery for complimentary wine tasting. Be sure to bring a lunch or light snacks for a picnic on the Amphitheater Lawn while Kristina Branes serenades you with live harp performances.

SCBG: Past Present and Future
Saturday, January 31 at 2 pm 
Classroom A
Peter Olpe, volunteer and SCBGF president, will talk about the history of Palos Verdes, the people and the geology that helped create the South Coast Botanic Garden, followed by an overview of the Garden's Vision Plan for the future.  Come and enjoy a very interesting lecture as part of your day at the Garden!

Sunday, February 1 at 1 pm 
Frances Young Hall 
Join Colleen MacKay, Regional Park Superintendent at the Whittier Nature Center to learn more about our winged friends. There will be a short presentation followed by a question and answer period. A great horned owl and hawk are just some of the friends visiting the Garden that day.
